This workshop suggests ways to limit or eliminate problems in the classroom due to perceptions of inappropriate student behavior(s). A multimedia presentation will initiate group interaction and discussion of behaviors considered offensive by many college teachers, but viewed by students as simply a part of the "youth culture.” Issues such as spicy language used in classroom discussion, illicit or immoral messages on clothing, displays of affection, and use of cellular phones, hand held TVs, headsets, and other gadgets during class concern many college teachers. The challenge, however, is to see the student who exhibits such behavior as one with potential. Which of these behaviors are damaging and detrimental to your classroom environment? What can you do about it? What will you do about it? Participants will leave the presentation with some possibilities.
