Improving Student Success and Student Retention through a Community Outreach Program

The Northeast Campus of Tulsa Community College developed and implemented a community outreach, service-learning program that includes the adoption of an inner-city school, cultural presentations by international students, and community-based research for service agencies.  This Community Outreach Program has resulted in a significant increase in minority enrollment and a significant increase in the retention rate of those students participating in the program.  This presentation provides a detailed examination of the program and its positive impact on student retention and success.
