DESCRIPTION

The One-Minute paper provides a quick and extremely
simply way to collect written feedback on student learning.
To use the One-Minute paper an instructor stops the class two or
three minutes early and asks students to respond briefly to some variation
of the following two questions: "What did you
understand most in today's lecture?" and "What topic did
you understand least?" Students then write their
responses on index cards or half-sheets of scrap paper and hand
them in.

PURPOSE
|
The great advantage of the Minute Papers is that they
provide manageable amounts of timely and useful feedback for a
minimal investment of time and energy. An instructor need
simply flip through the various responses and gauge which topics
were the least clear to the students. The least understood
topics should be covered again at the beginning of the next
class. This technique should be employed before moving on to
new subjects. |
